CAPTAIN Lawrence graduated from New Mexico State University in 1981 with a Bachelors Degree in Law Enforcement. After commissioning through Officer Candidate School, he attended Surface Warfare Officers School in San Diego, Ca. CAPT Lawrence's first sea duty was onboard USS KITTY HAWK (CV63) as Fire Control Officer and Asst First Lieutenant. Following two WESTPAC/Indian Ocean deployments, he reported to USS THACH (FFG43) as Combat Information Center/Electronic Warfare Officer. Onboard THACH he conducted an additional two deployments including one to the Persian Gulf where he participated in OPERATION EARNEST WILL, escorting tankers during the Iran/Iraq war. After Department Head School he served on USS FREDERICK (LST1184) as First Lieutenant for one deployment. His next tour took him back to the Middle East as First Lieutenant on USS WISCONSIN (BB64) for OPERATION DESERT SHIELD/DESERT STORM. CAPT Lawrence's final sea tour was as Executive Officer on USS NICHOLAS (FFG47) where he conducted operations as part of the Standing NATO Forces Atlantic in support of operations in Bosnia. CAPT Lawrence's shore assignments include tours as an Operational Test Director for C4ISR systems with Commander, Operational Test and Evaluation Force, Senior Intelligence Officer for Acquisition Threat Support for the Defense Intelligence Agency, Director of Operations and Deputy Commander on the staff of Commander, Military Sealift Command-Far East in Yokohama, Japan. His command tour was as Commanding Officer of Military Sealift Command, Korea and he reported to NROTC University of Utah from the Staff of the US Transportation Command, Scott AFB where he headed the Industry Branch in the Strategy, Plans, Policy and Programs Directorate(J5). CAPT Lawrence holds Sub-specialties in Logistics and Transportation Management (Transportation) and Operations Research Analysis (Logistics). He has a Masters degree in Public Administration from Troy State University and is a graduate of the Air Force's Air Command and Staff College and the Joint Forces Staff College. He is a Joint Specialty Officer. His personal awards include he Defense Superior Service Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (x2), Joint service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (x4), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and various campaign and service medals. |
