On 20 November 2008, the University of Utah NROTC Battalion hosted a Chinese Cultural Dinner in the Naval Science building. Members of the Chinese Students and Scholars Association University of Utah (CSSAUU) joined the Battalion members and their families to interact and enjoy a catered dinner provided by the Golden Dragon Chinese Restaurant. The dinner began with a brief presentation by the President of CSSAUU, Li Sun, and one of the CSSAUU members which outlined some of the Chinese traditions and holidays. Dinner was then served and members of the NROTC Battalion and CSSAUU intermingled and got to know one another. The purpose of the dinner was for the NROTC Battalion to learn more about Chinese culture, and the Chinese students learned more about the Navy and Marine Corps Team. Overall, the dinner was a great success and both groups walked away with a better understanding of each other.
