LT Crossman enlisted in the US Navy in January of 1993, attending boot camp in Orlando, FL. He then attended Nuclear Field "A" School and Nuclear Power School, both in Orlando, and earned his Machinist Mate rating. He then reported to Naval Prototype Training Unit Idaho Falls, ID where he completed his nuclear training. He also attended Nuclear Propulsion Plant Operator Welder school in Groton, CT prior to reporting to his first sea duty assignment, the USS Louisville SSN 724. During his three and a half year tenure onboard the USS Louisville he qualified as Engine Room Supervisor and was selected for the Navy ROTC program. He completed one year at the NROTC Unit University of Arizona prior to transferring to NROTC Unit University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and was commissioned in the Spring of 2002. After completion of Flight school training in Corpus Christi, TX, he earned his designation as a Naval Aviator and was selected to fly the mighty P-3C Orion in Jacksonville, FL. He was then assigned to VP-46 in Whidbey Island, WA where he completed two successful 7th Fleet deployments, the later of which his unit earned the Battle "E" award. LT Crossman is qualified as a Patrol Plane Commander and his personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (with one Gold star). |
